I didn't know quite what to expect from hypnotherapy. Martina has helped me generate a positive self-image from a long history of self-sabotaging negativity. After every session she prepared audio tapes specially tailored for me that I listen before sleep. Martina really spent time with me exploring how to understand myself better with emphatic and caring approach. Highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions

There's not a magic number. While six is the "average" number of sessions recommended for one issue, however it also happens that some clients have had major breakthroughs after one session. If the client is really motivated to change it will probably use less sessions, then someone who is ambivalent. So, the results are down to the individual. Therefore, I am offering a flexibility in choosing either “package sessions” or “individual sessions”. However, to create a meaningful, lasting change, between 5 to 7 sessions are usually required.

CBH combines Hypnosis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. This technique focuses on changing believes, thoughts and feelings that are not beneficial anymore. Clients are helped to develop coping skills, whereby they can learn to change their own behaviour. During our intro session and the first session we will be talking about one’s history and what is going on in the person’s current life by focusing on here and now. Through exercises in the sessions as well as “mind” exercises outside of sessions, clients become their own therapists.

In the main, it‘s because they are willing to do so. What we tend not to see in these shows is the careful selection process that goes on, where people are chosen for a combination of their suggestibility and willingness to participate. If both factors are high, the subject will cooperate with the hypnotist. Stage hypnosis is there for the show rather than as a therapy.

There is no evidence that anyone has been stuck in hypnosis. The suggestions that are given to you according to your needs and wishes are to be either accept it or not. It’s a choice. We are normally in different states of consciousness during the day, reading a book, focusing at work or day dreaming. We come out of these states naturally without even trying. The only time we might feel a bit reluctant to when we are experiencing some wonderful feeling of inner calm such as lying-in bed in the morning, too lazy to come up. I will be with you all the way and will guide you through the experience by gently “awakening’ you from hypnosis. Then, once you get more familiar with hypnosis you can practice self-hypnosis at any time at the comfort of your home.

Again, the answer is absolutely not. The only role the hypnotherapist plays in ‘emerging’ you from the experience is to make everything as smooth as possible. When you’re deeply hypnotised, your attention has been highly focused on other matters, and you’re often very relaxed indeed. Therefore, it’s nice to have suggestions to ease you back into an alert state. If the fire alarm rang, you would a) hear it and b) do what everyone else does, which is head briskly but sensibly for the nearest exit.

It’s almost certain that you are. The most important factors are your willingness to be hypnotised and your open mind. Come equipped with these two things, and you’ll be just fine. Moreover, it has been shown that hypnotic susceptibility is a skill which can be learned. You’ll notice, over the course of our sessions, that with a little time, you may be surprised at how quickly you can get into a very deep state of hypnosis all by yourself.

I’d rather speak to your conscious mind, in all truth. Research shows that an active conscious attitude is most beneficial when it comes to receiving suggestions. The idea of engaging your unconscious mind implies a passive attitude.

Rather than think of an unconscious mind, it is perhaps more helpful to think of habits that are so deeply engrained that they have become automatic behaviours. The problem arises when unhelpful thoughts and behaviours have become so entrenched that we don’t even realising we’re doing them. By moving them into our conscious awareness, we can give them no hiding place, and so begin the process of reconditioning ourselves.

Unfortunately, there is no magic button I can press to solve anyone’s problems, and your role in this process is as vital as mine. It is also worth noting that our work carries on outside the treatment room, and there may be things you need to do in between sessions, such as keeping a thought/mood/food diary or listening once a day to a self-hypnosis mp3. While we can achieve a lot in our sessions together, the more you can commit to the process, the more you will enjoy the benefits.

I will create a safe space to support and encourage your changes. Our therapeutic alliance will be a type of bond where we agree on goals in order to create a positive outcome. I will try my best to help you, but unfortunately there is no magic button I can press to solve anyone’s problems. The attitude you bring to the treatment room and outside of the treatment room is enormously important. It’s a teamwork and 50/50 collaboration. More you are committed to the process the more you will be able to enjoy the benefits.

True hypnosis or hypnotherapy doesn’t involve swaying pocket watches, and it isn’t practiced on stage as part of an entertainment act. While you’re in focused relaxation state, I will guide you through suggestions designed to help you become more open to change or therapeutic improvement. Whether or not you choose to accept these suggestions is entirely up to you. Trance-like experiences aren’t all that uncommon. If you’ve ever zoned out while watching a movie or daydreaming, you’ve been in a similar trance-like state.

Hypnosis rarely causes any side effects or has risks. As long as the therapy is conducted by a trained hypnotist or hypnotherapist, it can be a safe alternative therapy option. In rare cases some people may experience mild-to-moderate side effects including: headache, drowsiness, dizziness, situational anxiety.

Health insurance plans in Switzerland do not include coverage for the expenses related to hypnotherapy, including medical hypnosis. Even if alternative therapy approaches have proven ineffective, basic insurance does not extend to hypnosis. Without supplementary insurance, hypnotherapy is not considered a covered benefit under health insurance plans
